I got to drive a new 2002 Subaru WRX - As an early subaru fan content creator, I was invited to joion the Subaru Performance Panel, and was treatedby SOA (Subaru of America) to participate in release events for the introduction of the U.S. WRX, including attendance at the Detroit Auto Show, and an arrive and drive event at Firebird Raceway. In addition to driving the main course, I got to drive around a temporary mud course and got a ride-along with an American Pro Rally driver! FUN! I also inquired about a large WRX rally banner that was displayed at the event and was told they would send it to my home after the event was over if I wanted it... YES, I said! It's hanging on my garage wall now... |

What a great experience! My teacher (in the passenger seat for the morning runs) was a Corvette driver who was really familiar with the track. I also found that because I had spent so much time on the track in sims and games that I could focus on what was happening in the car because I already knew the layout and which corners were coming next! |

I got "black-flagged" twice by the "laps-leader", once because I passed her, and the second time because I went fast on the track! Phil Wicks didn't seem to be bothered by it - he asked me to drive his MINI race car back to California for him! |

(My credential picture) | ![]() Me and the 911 4S I drove | For my 65th Birthday, my family gave me a Porsche Driving Experience Package at PECLA! I got to drive a 911 Carrera 4S for a couple of hours on the 1.2 mile driver improvement track. Due to COVID, they changed the format from having a coach ride along in the same car to a lead-and-follow setup with 2-way radio communication. The car made me feel like Superman! It was awesome! |
