Judy and I had done a recon run for this event last year, and were delighted that we got to organize it for the club this year. We started from our regular regional monthly breakfast at CooGie's Beach Cafe in Malibu, where Chris & Brittney Woolman were presented with a baby car seat for their soon-to-be son, Cameron. Roadmaster and club vice-president Craig DeGarmo came up with a nice twisty run from Malibu over to Hansen Dam Recreation Area, where we met up with some other club members. Judy, Hope Adams, and Brittney Woolman took lunch orders from everyone, and took care of getting sandwiches for us, while the rest of us went on an interesting twisty run along Little Tujunga Canyon, Sand Canyon, Soledad Canyon, and Escondido Canyon Roads, eventually meeting at Vasquez Rocks. We set up the club EZ-Up, and put out some folding chairs, then had ourselves a nice picnic in the desert. After lucnh, some folks scrambled over the formations, checking out the many cinematic and TV-worthy views.

After spending some time enjoying the park, a few of us followed Randy T. to MB2 Electric Go-Karting near Foothill and Balboa. The experience was similar to, be distinctly different from the Electric Karting we've been doing at K1 Speed in Irvine. Here, the track surface is cement with a surface that has been smoothed and textured by grinding, which provides a LOT of grip in the turns! (K1 is asphalt, and there's a lot more drifting/sliding/spinning there.) Also, the course at MB2 is longer than either track 1 or track 2 at K1. Definitely worth checking out!

After karting, Erik insisted we find ice cream, so Chris & Brittney led a few remaining participants to a nearby Coldstone. After that, Judy got us home safe, and we enjoyed a celebretory "Marge-erita" in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Fun day!
