Suggested by Dr. Eric Johnson (MINISROC) and painstakingly implemented by SCMM "Roadmaster, Craig DeGarmo (CFMINI), this run took 27 MINIs along almost 100 miles of the best twisty roads in the Santa Monica Mountains. Beautiful scenery, challenging curves and combos, and hot weather (near 100 degrees Fahrenheit, for long portions of the run) provided an outstanding opportunity for folks to really enjoy motoring.

(Roadmaster Craig's Map of the route)

This event pre-empted the club's regularly-scheduled First Saturday of the Month Malibu Breakfast get-together, and although it was initially considered as an after-breakfast run, Craig's familiarity with the roads involved led him to suggest that it would be better enjoyed on empty stomachs! Instead, we finished up the run at Wood Ranch Pit BBQ in Agoura Hills.

As it was, due to the size of our group, the run ran long on time, and the concensus of drivers made it necessary to edit part of the run, in order to get to lunch in a timely manner. By the time we made it to the bottom of Tuna Canyon Rd, everyone seemed fully sated with twisties, and no one seemed to feel an immediate need for more.

Big thanks to Craig for doing all the hard work (We know you enjoyed it, but we also know it can be a chore keeping track of turn lists, noting mileage, etc.) figuring out a smooth route that developed almost cinematically as each new type of twisty seemed to complement the previous ones, and the well-documented route instructions and maps were indeed very helpful. Sympathies to Dr. Eric Johnson, who was unable to attend; Big welcomes to the new folks who participated in the run as their first SCMM experience; Congratulations to everyone for keeping things sane and safe, and especially to all of the passengers/navigators/co-drivers/victims who managed to hang on for dear life and enjoy the ride - especially those (like Judy) who managed to take photos during some of the wildest, oscillating G-force sections!

Everyone who participated deserves credit for making this a very successful event! Bravo!

Judy took a bunch of pics, mostly while in motion, and put together this slideshow. (Almost 200 pics!)
Hi-Rez versions of most of the images are available on request.
